Hello Friends,
There will be a tribute concert for the late Dave Giegerich this Sunday evening June 19th at the Birchmere in Alexandria, Virgina. Dave was the band leader and Big Kahuna of The Hula Monsters, master of the Dobro resophonic guitar and non-pedal and pedal steel guitar. Also, one heck of a human being. Dave was also a member of East of Monroe and Out Behind The Barn. This show will feature many of the artists Dave performed with over the years, stellar talent all, and is a fundraiser for the college fund for his two surviving sons, Carter and Axel. Sadly, Dave passed away December 29, 2010, of aplastic anemia at the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Thanks - This will be a sad but joyous event, with all proceeds benefitting Dave's cool kids and their education costs.

How I wish I could be there, but I will be away. Let us know how to purchase both of those CDs, Ted, if you don't mind.
Miss you, Dave! _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

Mike,
Yeah, I wish I could be there too, but I'll be stuck in Austin.
I'll get info on how to order the CDs and post back to the list when I have it.

I attended last nite's Dave Giegerich Tribute concert at the Birchmere.
The house was rockin'. The joint was PACKED! What an emotional event. One moment the tears were welling up and the next we were laughing hysterically. All of the artists donated there time to put together 3 hours of music. Dave's bands were represented along with many performing friends. It ended with a monster jam. Don't think I've seen so many ukes on stage at one time.
Mike Auldridge had one of the funniest lines..(I paraphrase) "When you start out in this business you play four sets/nite. When you get to be my age they ask you to play one 10 minute tune" (plus encore).
OK...I snagged a copy of Dave's CD "It's About Time"..>WHOA!!!It is killer! Everything from Old Time..Broadway..bluegrass..Hawaiian..swing to R&R. Original tunes and covers. Fifteen tracks with Dave on 6 and 8 string resonator guitar and four tracks with Dave on steel w/The Hula Monsters.....yes, a massive 19 track project. ALL KILLER TRACKS.
And there was MORE. One hundred ticket holders got a chance to snag a board mix of last nite's tribute, available immediately after the concert. Of course, I had to grab a copy!!
Pam should have "It's About Time" on CD Baby very soon. The proceeds go to a college fund for Axel and Carter Giegerich. Get this CD. You'll be playing it constantly!
Aloha Dave
Thanks for the laughs.
Thanks for the music.

Howard,
Thank you so much for your report on the show, .....and the CD. I live in Austin now, and there was no way for me to be able to attend.
