This thing is a killer. The kind of tunes we all like with hot steel everywhere. Lloyd's playing is hot enough to start a fire, add Dickey, Ralph, Jerry and you can melt steel. The band is excellent with great Tele stuff also. This CD is work of art and a love of steel. Yes let's not forget the artist. Red is a real country down home singer and without his hard work and idea for this concept album we would be listening to the sounds of silence. By the way, I found Red at 4:30 AM on Saturday and he was kind enough to get me the CD and spent time explaining how he accomplished the Herculean task.

I played this CD on my way home early Saturday morning. I liked it a lot! Then I played it on the way back up to the convention Later Saturday morning. I liked it even better. Every itme I listen I hear something I missed previously. This is definitely one of those CD's that grow on you the more you hear it. It is a must have for any "STEEL LOVERS" collection!

It's great that a lot of attention is given to the Players but lets not forget the Artist. Red does a super job singing with his Idols.Singing his love, pure Country. He's going to run out of copies soon, get yours now and avoid a wait. Not many great new all country CDs being recorded lately this could be the start of something.

Red, Great CD!! Thanks for letting me and Lenora be a part of this project. Watching Lloyd and Jerry record their parts was a once in a life time experience. I recommend this Cd to everyone who enjoys good country music and the finest of steel playing.

Heard it in the "Doc's" room,Sat. nite. A virtual plethora of steelers,& Red's singing is not very bad, either.

Red played this album for us in Dr. Wayne Yakes' room and it absolutely knocked me out. The steel playing by everyone is superb and the mix with the steel way up front is as it should be. This album is a MUST HAVE!!!!

Hi folks, I just made it home after spending a wonderful weekend in St.Louis with you all. I am so glad that you like the CD, it was so much fun getting to finally cut with these Legends of the Steel Guitar, and like everyone that has posted allready on this thread they are playing just like GREAT!!!!!!.

I have the CD ready for purchase right now, and you will be able to hear and see the pictures on my website www.redkilby.com real soon!!!!!!

I would like to send out a REAL SPECIAL THANKS!!!!!!! to to Steel Guitar Community for embracing me the way that they have, even though I don't play steel. You folks are #1 in my book, and I can't wait to meet you all at a steel show somewhere.

Thanks so Much, Red Kilby. www.redkilby.com

Red,

It was great meeting you and scarfing up a copy of your CD. You're right, the CD is full of surprises, not the least of which is hearing Lloyd bring a fresh approach to "Crystal Chandliers". The steel guitar highlights on this CD really are too numerous to mention. My compliments to you and all the players, including the other Redd and Junior Knight (lead guitar).

I'm guessing that the songwriter named Erik Kilby is you... You don't look old enough to be a grandpa, so tell us a little about Erik and "AKA Gumpy's Girl".

Hi Ron, well I will tell you about me being a 37 year old Grandpa.

I married my wife LINDA and she allready had 3 kids, and she is a few years older than I. The oldest daughter had a beautiful baby girl 10 years ago, Lacee. When she was about 2 years old she started calling me "GUMPY" and it stuck, and she asked me to write a song for her, and thats where "AKA GUMPY'S GIRL" came from which is on the new CD.

By the way, we have been married for 17 and a half years, and she is my ROCK!!!!!!!

Thanks again for all the kind posts on here, and I enjoy hearing your feedback.

Here's some other early impressions...

Tough to beat that opener that Red wrote himself, called "That Bakersfield Sound". That's a good one, Red! It’s perhaps your best vocal performance on the album. Dicky tears it up and then there's a Mooney surprise on the end.

Jerry Brightman will get you started without caffeine on “I’ll Come Runnin’”. Love that intro!

Moon is fantastic on "Colors I'm Gonna Paint the Town".

Hearing “Crystal Chandliers” and “Just Between You and Me”, I’m reminded of Lloyd’s recent CD title – Lloyd Green Revisited. He definitely revisited those two with some real flare. I’d like to have seen the faces in the studio when he hot-dogged that break on the latter. That will make you wink and grin or LOL.

Red, did you wear a white leisure suit while recording “I’m Gonna Knock on Your Door”? I remember that from a Billy Crash Craddock 8-Track.

Picked up my copy at St. Louis and heard it many times since. Red is one of the nicest individuals you'll ever meet. He's chosen the right songs and some of the best steel guitar players around. Red has his heart in supporting and being with and for the steel community. I would strongly say you owe it to yourself to email, call or do something to have one of these CD's so you too can experience on the same CD Red and 4 fabulous steel players and a great total sound. This will be a hot item years from now. Better print more Red!!!!
