2004 International SteelGuitar Hall of Fame inductee, BOBBY KOEFER. File photo is shown below as Bobby was unable to attend the induction.

Accepting for Bobby was his long time friend ROY AYERS. Roy and Bobby have been friends since they worked together and recorded with Pee Wee King and the Golden West Cowboys.

I'm real glad to hear that Bobby Koefer was inducted into the Hall of Fame this year -- it is 1000% appropriate. His playing knocks my socks off every time I hear it. And it is also absolutely appropriate that Roy Ayres accepted the honor for Koefer. Pee Wee King's "Swing West" LP gets regular rotation on my personal playlist, and it's just amazing to hear the interplay between Roy & Bobby on this recording...

I just talked to Bobby a couple of hours ago and he asked me to express his thanks to Scotty, the ISGHOF Board of Directors, and all others who were involved with his induction into the Hall of Fame. Unavoidable personal circumstances precluded his attendance, but he promised to try his best to make the convention next year. If he plays a set next year you will understand why I bragged on him at the awards presentation. The man is a phenomenon in the steel guitar world -- and he does it without pedals or finger picks.

Good news: Bobby told me this morning that he hopes to make the convention next year. If you haven't heard him play, that will be your opportunity.

Congrats to Bobby - this is well deserved! Also, thanks to Roy for his comments on Bobby during the award ceremony!

PS.: And my deepest sympathy to Michael Scott who always has to hold those nice (and heavy!) bronze plaques! Hope your arms are back to normal length now!

Kind Regards, Walter
