Ilooked on the Carter Site about guitar mechanics and such, they list two types of changers all pull and P/P. Mine is a pull release, so which catagory does mine belong to? You smart guys would have nothing to do if it were not for us novices. Thanks in advance. Confused Shocked

Pull-release is a member of the push-pull family. Raises tune at the keyhead, lowers tune at the stop-screws at the endplate behind the changer.

A string that both raises and lowers is tuned to the open-note with a tuning-nut (or a stop-collar on really old steels) on the end of the tension-rod that passes through the changer-finger. Usually this is accessible through the rectangular hole in the endplate.

Some pull-release steels tune the lowers under the guitar. Forum-member Richard Burton has an old Marlen that tunes the lowers in this manner.
