Charles, I was going to post. This man is a Grand Master Legend. It is lost on alot of the younger players that this man SMILES and SHINES. He is entertainment, besides being a master banjo player. His string bends on that banjo are pure Buck Trent. Thank God this man is still with us to remind us what country music greatness really is. The younger people need to see this.

The Sho-Bud connection:

Buck Trent's electric, string-bending banjo was made at Sho-Bud.

I played a similar one that was for sale at the Sho-Bud store in April 1979, a couple of months before I went to work there.

Buck was on the Porter Wagoner Show today (along with Dale Wagoner - who knew?) and I swear he made that banjo sound just like a pedal steel.

Yeah, that was pretty cool. In his time, he was a monster! I'm glad somebody like Marty takes such an interest in the old stuff.

Wanna hear some great stuff by Buck on his electric "bender banjo" just go to YouTube and put in Porter Wagoner. Then click on "Carrol County Accident" and you'll get a live cut from his old TV Show where Buck kicks off the song and plays great fills all through it. This is the stuff that inspired a lot of guitar players to take up the B Bender, myself included..........JH in Va.

I used to watch the Porter show when I was a kid. I thought there were many banjo players that was doing what Buck was doing. I was WRONG!!! Buck is the "original"!!! I have come to respect him as not only a wonderful musician, but he is a great man too!!! Marty and the Superlatives truly love him!!

There's a fellow in NE Tennessee that did some mods and made a few parts for Buck's banjos. He could tell us a lot about the elect. banjo and how they work. By the way, he is a great elect. banjo player as well.
I will send him this link and see if he might join the Forum and share his information.
