I am hoping to get my guitar autographed, and would like to know how to protect it.
Should I use a laundry marker, if not what, and is there anything I should do/not do to protect it afterward?
Goofy question, I know.
...but then, I'm kinda goofy.
Thanks. |

one thing to be mindful to is dissolving the signature's ink with a clear coat. so I would avoid covering the signature. then you would only have to worry about it rubbing off from your arm while playing the instrument.
years ago I met an artist that drew with the common felt tip pen or Sharpie type pen. he said that he used a marker considered permanent before he switched. many many years down the road he saw that the permanent marker faded and the common felt tip pen did not.
I would leave the signature as is and just be careful not to rub it off. |

I've had to resort to covering up signatures in wear spots with simple paper taped strategically into place, which I can remove any time, it's definitely not sexy. I use those paint pens with gold or copper metallic colors, but they fade somewhat with time. Not the best, but most of them are all dead, so it is what it is. |
