Any chance one of you 10,000 worldwide Steel Guitar Forum members has any clips from the days of old black/white RADIO featuring steel guitarist WAYNE BURDICK?
His guitar used to be featured on the Paul Bigsby guitar brochure. |

His Bigsby is here in Southern California. His Standel 25L15 is too. Neither are in my collection, though.

Burdick played with Tex in the early to mid-50's, and is on Tex's 10" Dance-O-Rama lp on Decca, released in 1955.
There's some video of Wayne playing a Gibson Electraharp with Tex, in a band that also featured Deuce Spriggens and Jimmie Widener singing with Tex, Max Fidler on fiddle, Warren Penniman on drums, Ossie Godsen on vibes, and Dickie Phillips on guitar.

Urban legend has it that Wayne doesn't like to talk about his music life at all and will slam the phone down or the door in your face if you mention his previous career. I've never talked to him, though... just what I've heard.
I'm guessing Lee Jeffriess knows his whereabouts, but that too could be legend.

Back in the early 90's, I got Wayne's number when he was living in Big Bear, and I gave him a call. When I asked him about his Bigsby, he said it was out in the garage and he made it really clear that he didn't want to talk about it and that he wasn't enjoying our conversation. |

When I first got out of the Army in the early sixties, I used to go play at the "Sqeakin' Deacon" radio show on Sundays at the Southgate Eagles Hall. Wayne was in the house band but I never got to play with him as we'd do our own thing out there. I think Danny Michaels was the lead guitarist in the house band at that time! I used to have some pictures taken out there but unfortunately my ex wife destroyed most of my old photos when we split, I guess I should've taken 'em with me!....JH in Va.
