Hi Bill, the Casio DG-20 is like most plastic midi gimmick guitars. There are very few (real guitar) effects like string bending, vibrato and so on when playing in real time. You can add them later on after recording with the midi guitar but it is a pain you have to use the piano roll page to edit those paramaters.

I bought mine for 50 bucks many years ago and I did end up using it for straight Bass guitar lines as well as Piano chords, but after I would record the piano rhythm tracks I had to go back and move the midi notes around to make them voiced as a piano player would play. I also used it for string lines and other synth sounds.

To answer your question if you don't mind doing quite a bit of midi editing after you are done recording I would say it was usable. But I wouldn't spend to much on it Bill. Good luck pal!

Big Bob
