All in all I thought it was one of the better "country" music shows in a while. Most of the time the "girl singers" just try to out-yell each other,,,a big plus was the missing Taylor Swift. Question,,,why are certain stars trying so hard (and very successfully) to look like freaks,,,is that the "in" thing now? Seems like they could see the clips of themselves 15-20-30 years ago and say,,,,"I look like a freak!!!",,,,I mean,,,certain ones actually hurt my eyes!!!! |

Ricky seems a little harsh. No, a lot harsh. A person may not like the music as it's presented today. That's fine! To say there is no talent, that is ignorant and cruel. Music is a living thing and must continue to grow and change. I am 62 years old and prefer the old songs and styles, but I really appreciate the talent of today's stars. If music hadn't grown and changed we'd be back in the cave with drums and twanging those gut string instruments. Ricky, get your head out of the sand.

Rich:
Thanks for your enlightened view - all too rare here on the SGF. Sometimes it can be a challenge to keep an open mind, especially as we get older and become more sentimentally attached to yesterday's music, but it's well worth the effort. There's a lot of talent out there - I'd venture to say more than ever before.
As for Tommy, can there be any doubt that he's at the forefront of today's steel players, or that he brings a total commitment and professionalism to everything he does? Not in my book - he's right at the top of my list of 'favourite players'! _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles, Martins, and a Gibson Super 400!

This kind of discussion does not belong in the Steel Players section of this forum. Steel Players is for discussion of steel guitarists and their music, not for rants about singers. You are entitled to your opinions, but you're not entitled to degrade steel players by hijacking their steel guitar threads.
No apologies necessary. Just think before you pile onto these things next time, then don't.
