On some tabs written in the Jerry Byrd style, there's a symbol that looks something like this: ^---| (a 'hat' followed by horizontal line and vertical slash). It is above the tab staff. Would someone please tell me what it represents.
Once you get used to it, that notation is ingenious, although I'm more comfortable with standard musical notation plus tab above or below, e.g. Mike Neer, Basil Henrique and others.
Thanks,

Pick the note(or notes) below the "hat" and then slide through the duration of the horizontal line. The vertical line on the end of the horizontal line marks the end of the side. Don't pick at the end of the slide.
That's my take. |
