For those who may be interested in knowing the Christian Steel Forum has been shut down as of 8-3-2004. It appears it was a quick decision. I always enjoyed looking at it as well as this forum. I posted there several times and there were some great guys there as well. It sure makes me appreciate this forum bOb has established.

Dunno. Lem seems pretty tight lipped about it. I'm disappointed which makes me want to speculate, but I can only assume that he gave it up in prayer & that the answer was to close it.
Hate to see it go, though. IMHO that was one forum that DIDN'T need to close. But my bellyaching stops here.

IMO, he should pass the torch onto someone else.

There's a need for it.

Well I think this is something that will hopefully be continued. It would be great if it could pick up right here on the Forum.

With that in mind, it would be a good idea for us all to kick in a few extra bucks to Bobby Lee to make sure this forum can stay online as well.

It doesn't cost much to get a web site Domain Name, but it takes a lot of work to maintain it and make sure everything, everyday is working as it should.

And then to deal with an occasional knucklehead or two along the way.

Bobby just recently changed over the server hardware, so that cost him some hard earned cash too. What's the Forum worth to us?

Daryl

Just a note to let you know that some of us regular contributors to the CSGMB are trying to raise something from the ashes. I sure don't know any of the details in the reason for closing but I truly believe that the Christian steelers need a presence on the web. We are a "pecular" people but that is what the Bible says we should be. And that REALLY holds true for left-handed Norwegians!
Uff-Da!

I don't think it should be a part of this Forum because of the "Two Many Eggs in One Basket" issue.

Any announcements about it are welcome here.

In the 90s, I was a member of the "Telecaster Discussion Page" (TDP). It grew to a point that it's originator (a high school kid) could no longer sustain it. It closed, but the membership rebuilt it to an even better forum, now know as the TDPRI (RI for ReIssue). It can be done.

Joey,
I agree with you. It should be on a separate forum. That way when us bible thumpers start to get flamed, we can cut them off!
One of the peculars!

To all interested persons:

To make things as brief as possible, I'll tell you what happened. It might sound silly to some, but others will understand exactly what I'm talking about.

For a while now, my family and I have been having an extremely difficult time. It seems that everything that could go wrong, in fact did. From struggling with all the problems, everything from health issues, to the fact that we are pretty much destroyed financially. During all of this, I have prayed and prayed, as well as doing what I could to help the situation myself.

Instead of anything getting better, everything just got worse. During all of this, my belief's just got strained to the point that I began to doubt my faith, even to the point of wondering if God in fact did exist. I couldn't help but wonder why, if He was there, why He wouldn't help me. I began to feel like a hypocrit, hosting a Christian site, when I myself wasn't even sure if I was a believer anymore. So, I decided to close it.

In the last few days, I've done some real soul searching, and have come to some conclusions. First, that yes, God is in fact real. Secondly, that although I can't begin to understand it, there must be a reason why my life is in the shape it is, and finally that I'm not going to turn my back on God. Obviously the board meant more to a lot of people than I realized.

So, regardless of how things in my life are, I owe it to the Lord to keep going. He knows my heart, and knows that I love Him and do believe, even though my faith has been sorely tried. I made a wrong decision in closing the Christian Steel Message Board, and will open it back up. My apologies if it's temporary closing upset anyone.

Wonder sometimes if I'm a decendant of Job...

I immediately thought of what I call the "oxygen mask scenario" when I read Lem's post. It's the part of the safety speech before take off where they tell you to put your mask on 1st then help the child/family member. Some people might not think this makes sense, but it does totally to me. I know I'm not going to be good to anybody if things aren't on course in a way that's pleasing to God.
It's not my business to assume one's priorities, but if one is spreading him/herself too thin, then my thinking is time to get the ol' "oxygen mask" back on & get all back on track with God & the family before one tries to "assist" others.
Having said that, the CSGMB can just take an old cold tater & wait.
Thanx for coming forth & sharing with us, Lem. You KNOW we're praying for you.

Lem, I have a brother who has been through the hardest of times as well. It has weakened his faith but he is still going on. When I started this topic I was in no way of blaming you or anyone else just merely passing info on to the members here on this forum. Thanks for starting the CSGMB back up. I looked at it nearly every day and posted there as well. May the Lord bless you and turn things around for you and your family.

Thanks for the kind words. They are appreciated.

Paul, I took no offence at all for your posting. I appreciate you being interested enough to say something about it.

Hey Lem, check your email pal.

I heard this once and maybe it'll help you. You know the stars are up there all the time. You can't see them till it gets dark but they are there. Jesus is like that man. When our lives are darkest is his chance to shine. Give it to God man and let the Lord of light shine in your situation.
I've gone through some tough things that made me question my faith too. In fact things that were so emotionally shaking that I ran to a bottle for a couple of years till the Lord called and said "Son you're running in the wrong direction." Then sure enough when I ran to the Lord and poured my heart out to him, he began to heal my broken heart and also began to give me a clearer understanding of why things happened as they did. Now Im in a position to help others. No matter whats going on in your life remember this, the ship we're all riding on is Gods boat man. We're kinda just along for the ride. Let him gently take the cares of the problems in our lives and the just enjoy the ride man. Its incredible to watch him make a blessing out of a curse and he's awesome at his work. God Bless and keep you my brother.

Brother Lem, Hang in there. We have a guy in our church who's wife went in for back surgery and 1.5 Million dollars and almost 2 years later she left the hospital to be buried. Along this journey he lost his brother and was diagnosed with cancer twice himself. In June he was given 4-6 weeks to live and is still in church every Sunday.
The day after Christmas, my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer and then we had a car accident with me out of work for 10 weeks and probably looking at yet another surgery. There are alot of us (Jobs) out there Remember when you see only one set of footprints, that's when He is carrying you.

"FARTHER ALONG"

"Tempted and tried,
we're oft made to wonder.
Why it should be thus all the day long,
While there are others
living about us
Never molested, tho' in the wrong.
Farther along we'll know all about it;
Farther along we'll understand why.
Cheer up, my brother;
live in the sunshine.
we'll understand it
all by and by."

There's a sermon in every one of these grand, old gospel songs. I just love them and that's why I keep tabbing them out!!!
Put yourself in Jesus' hands, he won't let you down.
Erv
