Hey, I'm wondering something. I just read this announcement, and also the one about Jake Hooker with Dicky and Joan, and both had mentioned doing gigs with Jim Loessberg on drums. How do you steelers feel doing a gig with such a great steel player sitting behind the drum kit? Does it make you play any different, or maybe more nervous?? I'm just curious. I've worked quite a bit with Jim when he's on steel, and the guy is a great player.

Thank goodness I am playing bass...(hehehe)...However, Bobby Tuttle is a super steel player that has worked with with quite a few Name artists including Ray Price and Claude Gray. We should have a great time.
Jim is a super guy to work with....regardless of what he is playing. Very professional and complimentary.
Years ago, I saw Jimmy Day Playing Bass with Billy Walker on a show and I know the steel player had to be intimidated.

Bobby Tuttle is a super picker. He was with Mickey Gilley for quite a while and is on some of the cuts on the "Urban Cowboy" album. Jake Hooker and Curtis Potter sing their rears off. Don't miss these dates if you are in the area. Jody.

Hey Jim; that is a great question. Actually one time Loessberg called and said he couldn't find a drummer for a Justin Trevino gig; so he told me to come play steel and he would play drums. And I gotta tell you; first of all, Jim Loessberg and Gary Carpenter are my absolute favorite steel players to sit and listen to play Live(If Lloyd ain't around of course..ha) and they are also my really good friends....> and those two guys have forgotten more than I'll ever learn on the steel; but they are also the most supportive when I sit in on steel. Mainly because they are just like most steel players as they appreciate what someone else has to offer or say on the steel and always make you feel like a brother in arms....and therefore; you just don't get to feel intimidated being around them as you just don't think about it; but If I did think about it, I would piss in my boots....but they DON"T let you think about it as they are that kind and supportive to you.

Well, I have to say I understand what you're saying. Having worked a fair amount the past year or two on guitar with Jim on steel, he is really a professional. Such a great player, knows his stuff really well, great tone. His whole objective seems to be to make the band sound as good as it is capable of sounding.

Jim Loessberg is one of the best drummers I've worked with because not only does he know what a steel player likes to hear when he's playing, but he understands the role of each instrument in band's total onstage sound. He's a natural musician, as well, which doesn't hurt anything either.

Talk about being under the gun, a couple of years ago Johnny Bush played a South By Southwest (a HUGELY big pro music conference here in Austin each year) showcase, and the band was yours truly on steel, Jim Loessberg on drums, Bobby Flores on fiddle, and Randy Reinhard on piano!! Yikes, talk about realizing that there will be more attention paid to the steel guitar solos than is usually the case!!!

"WhaddamIdoin'here??!" was the feeling I recall. It was a great gig, BTW, since those guys are monsters no matter what instrument they're behind.

Well....the gig is over, and what a great time we had. It's such a pleasure to work with Curtis. He makes you want to "pick"! Justin Trevino was there and did a super set. I enjoyed working with Jim Loessberg again, and getting to visit with him.

I saw a lot of old friends there, and made some new ones. All in all, it was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Well heck, I played with Justin last night. We played with Claude Gray at the Llano Opry for a 40th anniversity tribute to the passing of Jim Reeves. John Rex Reeves and the Jim Reeves Tribute Band from Nashville was also there and done a supurb job. If I had knowed Justin was going to London Hall I'd have gone too and he could have drove me back home
