Recently acquired (outside the Forum). First to guess the year, manufacturer and model gets the Flying Fickle Finger of Fate Award (and gets to see what's inside!).

I have two Epiphone Electars. one a 39 and another 1940. the cases are black and the closures don't resemble the ones on the case pictured.
I am no expert however. I am tickled that I read Epiphone Electar. I love my laps that much.

Ron and Mitch, very close! I believe this to be a '47 Ultratone, as the first year ('46) was a slightly different body shape. This one's the nicest I've seen, 100% original and 9.7/10 condition. I sold a Gibson lap to George Gruhn in the '80's and it went into his collection (it's the EH pictured in The Guitar Book). Maybe he'll get this one, too.

That looks to be in fantastic shape Michael! Nice score.

That is also my favorite version of the Ultratone and was the inspiration for my UltraP

That one is using one of the Lollar string through Supro / Valco pickups, but I had Jason wind me an original style Ultratone reproduction to go into another I'm doing.

Indeed ! Looks fantastic ! ... wanna sell me the case ? I need one for my '48 black Century 6 Wink

...BTW, what is the distinction between the C6 and Ultratone ? Mine looks exactly like yours (different shape bridge cover) but without 'Ultratone' OR Century 6 anywhere on the guitar ?

THIS one's my sweetheart though:

This board is just too fast sometimes.
I have the same steel in the same case, so it was pretty easy.
Just too slow on the trigger to be the first.

I love excentric designs. This is a favourite. Am I right in thinking they didn't sound as good as they looked?
