After several month of brainstorming, i just finished adding Raise Helper on my Mullen Pré RP (totaly refurbished last month). The result is fantastic, my guitar is sweet as a pricy modern one.
All the Springs are handmade and adapeted for a best tension with the copedent and can be adjust as you need.

I've done similar mods to all-pull steels, but I always put the helper springs in a more accessible position, ie under the headstock.

I run a thin diameter (1mm) stainless steel welding wire hooked around the top hole of the changer finger down the length of the instrument, until there is a bit more room to do things.

Richard

Mine are accessible directly from the changer by adjusting the nylon tuning with a little screw on the top. The best to me is to be as straight as possible. I use smallest diameter for the springs (less than 0,8mmm).

Salut Matthieu,

Does that mean that you use the highest raiser hole on each finger to hook up the helper spring?
Very convenient to tune indeed, but will it not restrict the number and choice of (still available) raise holes?

greetings from across the border

Gutentag Pit

Yes, every holes are used by the compensator without tuning inconvenients (and there's less cabinet drop due to the sweetest action). I was moving only one rods (on the 7th string) to the hole below. Anyway, you can find the best combination beetween the fact that you use this "raise hole" and your copedent configuration. The result is so impressive, that you can consider loosing this hole possibility as a minor thing. The best way to do is is having 4 raise hole with one dedicated to the raise helper, but for my opinion it run very well with only Three hole (even though it depends of the guitar brand used).

Ich war aus Köln drei mal !! wunderbach stadt und ich liebe das Koelsh Bier. Ich meine eine Kolsch band nahme "BAP" (very famous).

They counteract the pull of the strings to make raises easier.
