I tabbed out the intro for this song here:

I even played it through a 1974 Fender Princeton amp with the original reverb tank. Just the Steel, pedal, cords and amp.

When I close my eyes and listen to that tune, I see 19 cent gas, 4 cent stamps, and a 10 cent bottle of RC Cola.

....and 5 cent Hershey bars. And Ralph was doing that on a guitar that's practically "unplayable" by today's standards.

Chas... Nah, Fenders weren't unplayable if you set them up correctly. I had two and they both played very nice. As a matter of fact my 10 string 800 played as well as any modern guitar... Easy action, and accurate, and NEVER went out of tune.

Man, that SOUND!!!! I am buying another Fender, and when I do, its gonna be my #1, and I don't give a crap, how big and heavy it is, or how much of a pain in the butt it is to keep the cables working right.

Nothing else in the world has that sound...

That cut is monstrous... Ralph at his finest! Clean and clear, soulful and happy at the same time... The perfect sound for the song... bob

I just put that album, "Your For Me", on my iPod last week, a few days before Moon passed.
So this recording of "The House Down The Block" was in 1962, does anyone know who played steel on Buck's 1956 version of the same song?
On the earlier cut the steel sounds more of a non-pedal Fender with a very cut through tone.

Alvin, Fuzzy Owen was doing some non pedal stuff at Capitol, could have been him. I believe he's on "A Dear John Letter" by Ferlin and Jean.

It may be Fuzzy on it, but it was a year before Buck went to Capital as an artist, he was a studio player at Capital at the time. The original cut was on the Pep Label.

I'm only guessing, Alvin, but the pieces sort of fit. You say it sounds like a Fender and Fuzzy told me last year he was playing a D8 Fender in those days. Another remote possibility is Moon pre pedals. On the Skeets stuff you sent me, I'd bet anything its Moon on "You're Too Late" and "I've Got a New Field to Plow", judging by the tone and the bar bouncing.
