First of all, , the ser # would tell us which guitar it really is.... My thought is this....It was your guitar , you should get it back... It is too bad that someone else invested their money in a stolen guitar , and I'm not real sure how this is best handled. Anyway, I think that any person that steals an instrument is a 1st class low-life... even accordions & banjos. JF

Jerry, I certainly will keep an eye open for the stolen Emmons, and would most definitely get it returned to it's rightful owner. The banjos and accordians would be put out of our misery on the spot. All the best. ..jeff

I personally believe that whoever stole that mans guitar in the first place ought to feel badly abut it. If anyone knew that it was a stolen guitar should never have purchased it.....but gotten a hold of the owner and gotten the process started for it to be returned to its rightful owner. Jerry, glad to see you on the forum....don't see or hear from you much my friend.....give me a call sometime.....225-276-8250......HAL

I did originally restore this guitar and sell it to Richard. After a few years it was stolen from him and he contacted me about it. It took a few more years before it re-surfaced.....at my shop! A nice fellow from Alabama brought it and another guitar to me to setup for customers as he had them both sold, not knowing one was hot. I told the then-owner of this and he agreed to decline the sale until/if Richard could be contacted. We tried all means possible to locate Richard but failed in our attempts. After a reasonable ammount of time I believe the fellow did sell the guitar. After that, its anyones guess, but we DID try to reach RJ through the forum, phone etc, but to no avail.
I hate when this kind of thing happens, being a guitar-theft victim myself. Ive not seen it since but I keep an eye out for it nonetheless. Maybe lightning will strike 2x in the same place... you never know.

I had my beloved Sho-Bud Pro III stolen in 1979 and never saw it again. Any one who knowingly deals in stolen guitars just has a black cloud following them for the rest of their days.

Out here, we pay thieves to take those. We just leave them on the porch along with an envelope with $100 to cover the thieve's overhead. Laughing Laughing

I have mixed feelings on the return. First off, I do think the original owner should get it back. But the poor guy that bought it may not have known it was stolen if the seller had a good grasp of what he was selling. If the seller didn't know anything about the guitar, I would have been suspicious. If the purchaser knew it was stolen, he should go to jail too, for accepting stolen property. Of course, if the purchaser now found out it was stolen, and that he might end up losing thousands of dollars, he might not come forward. Dang, I hate thieves. Devil Devil Devil Devil

Good luck.

Sorry Richard. I just saw the post where you found out who stole your stuff. Cool. Go get 'em. I sure wish I could figure out how I missed your post. Old age is not being good to me these days. Laughing
