What a great show this was. I wrote a long report, probably took 1/2 hour, and when I tried to post, it disappeared...
Anyway, here are some pictures...

First three pics above are Del Mullen, Jerry Foster, and Jerry Newberry. If I spell anybody's name wrong, I apologize... Here are more pics...
Above, Billy Phelps tries out a new Justice steel, the Fred Justice steel guitar display, and a mini Shobud guitar which was on display in the Telonics room.

More pictures...
above, 3 new Mullen guitars on display in the Mullen Room. The finish on these guitars is beautiful. They have a new, marble like formica finish which is gorgeous! Russ Hicks test drives a Mullen, and a beautiful sunburst MSA Legend on display in the MSA room. |

more pictures from TSGA Show
Pic 1: Chuck Back, sorry Chuck, caught you sleeping.
This gentleman is a wonderful, super, tasteful, amazing, can't say enough good about his Telly playing.
Oh, and he builds the beautiful Desert Rose pedal steels.
Pic 2: Austin Stewart. At 16 years old this young man is a pro-level player, speed picker like you would not believe, and also plays bass and drums, and maybe more that I don't know about...
Pic 3: the view from the back of the main ballroom
where the concerts took place. |

Pic 2: A just beautiful new Rittenberry steel with a flamed curly maple cabinet, two tone blond and red finish with abalone inlay. This guitar was drop dead gorgeous!
Pic 3: David Wright holding court in the MSA room.
Another amazing player!

Still MORE pics...
First: Mr. David Hartley from England made the trip over and amazed us with pure, sweet playing, and speed
picking with the best of them.
2nd pic: David and his friend John Stanard, also from
England. John plays great Telecaster and twin speed picks with David. If you have not heard these two play together, go on youtube and listen up. Amazing!
Pic 3: Mike Johnson performs in the Sho Pro room. Mike has a real nice country style. He played some nice back-up for his lovely wife and appears on many TV shows coming out of Nashville. |

1st up: Mr Jeff Surrat, builder of the beautiful Sho Pro pedal steel guitars.
2nd: a jam in the Mullen room, Tommy Dodd and I believe John McClung. Not your average country music.
I had never heard "Funk" played on a pedal steel prior to hearing this session...
Pic 3: one of the many displays around the edge of the main ballroom. My friend Bob Bird checks out the seats. The red one went home with me...
Last, but NOT least, Mr. Buck Grantham. This gentleman played the most soulful rendition I heard
at the the entire show with his rendition of "How Great Thou Art," his closing number. I had to wipe the tears away from my eyes... |

I was real tired last night and went to sleep before adding these last two pics:
Mr. Paul Franklin... Absolutely awesome!
Mr. Mike Sigler, another great player. Mike could
be found most of the day in the GFI room, playing solo, backing up singers, or playing with a band.
This man is another awesome steeler!
Well, that's it. If you have never been to this show, give yourself a gift and GO! I may never go again, but it is a life experience that you will not forget. |

This was my first Jamboree and it was a total pleasure.
I met nothing but super nice people wherever i went.
Lots of fine music were coming from that bandstand the whole weekend.
Paul Franklins seminar gave me a few things to think about, very good.
Mike Johnson and Joanie Keller gave us a lesson in jamming at the Show Pro room, fantastic music by fantastic people. That session alone made the trip worthwhile.
My warm thanks and deepest regards to the folks at TSGA. I know the enormous amount of work it takes to make an event like this happen.
It will take a lot to keep me from going next year. _________________ 1983 Emmons D10 SKH, Carter SD10, Nashville 112, Session 500, ProfexII, Lapsteels, GT-Beard reso, guitars of all kinds...

Larry : Yeah ; I finally found your pics of the little Tinnie-Weenie Steel Guitar Show From Dallas. Great photos, man; thanx for the one of my favorite pickers, Mr. David Hartley with John, [ A fabulous Dueo ]. Heard them doing " Fairwell Party "on another clip from that Rains Room.Wish I could have joined you and the Bird Man on this venture. I was in the Hosp. from March 6th thru March 16th. Glad you both got to enjoy the trip. I would have loved hearing Buck play that great Hymn. He is another of my top steel pickers on the Forum. Thanks for sharing your pics with we young fellers and gals..Regards..Bernie _________________ 2007 Zum S-10; 1967 Sho-Bud [ D-10 ]; 85 S-10 Sierra; 1953 Multi-Kord [ 6 String- 4 pedals ] A Sho-Bro six String Resonator Guitar; Nashville 112 Amp; hilton Vol. Pedal |
