Just finished 23 weeks of the musical revue "Always..Patsy Cline" at Zach Scott Theatre in downtown Austin and it's been extended to the end of July! I have a family obligation and will need a sub for 4 shows:
Thurs. 7/22 (call 7:15, show at 8:00)
Fri. 7/23 (call 7:15, show at 8:00)
Sat. 7/24 (call 7:15, show at 8:00)
Sun. 7/25 (call 1:45, show at 2:30)

This is a professional theatre production - serious inquiries only, please. Experience with Patsy Cline tunes and experience reading charts highly recommended. $50/show.

My daytime e-mail is: nathan.delacretaz@harcourt.com
Write me if you have any questions....

Thanks, fellas!
Nathan

BTW, all - I know $50/show isn't *that* lucrative, but consider the benefits of musical theatre:

1. No amp to transport; you could use my Fender DeVille 2x12, which is already miked and tended to by the house sound man.
2. You're on your way home by 10:15pm.
3. Smoke-free environment.
4. No fistfights or drunken patrons spilling beer on your gear.

And I bet fellow forumite Roger Rettig will vouch for me on most of the above...and confirm that it's a fun show - right, Roger?

My favourite gig - I'm doing another 'run ' of this show later this Summer in FL! I wish I lived a bit nearer, Nathan - I'd do the shows for you.....

Cheers, Roger - Jessica Welch and I had a great time chatting (she did the first 8 weeks of the run - now Cher Lair is Patsy), and she was amused that I knew you through the forum...(and she did speak very highly of you, old chap!)

You mean that whopping $200 in theatre wages isn't enough to lure you halfway across the country?! : )

OF COURSE! I remember now - I played in Key West with Jessica a few weeks ago, and she spoke about you, too, saying what fun she had, and what a good player you were! She was tickled at the idea of all of us 'knowing' each other through the Forum.

Your post here made me reflect that in all the time I've lived and worked in the US (since '97) I've never played a bar-gig - it's all been theatre shows. I take it for granted more than I should, but I love that environment. People actually come to listen (mostly) and my guitar and amp are still in good shape at the end of the run. (I had a guy come to me for lessons - he'd open his case and my music room smelled of stale smoke immediately. I dread to think of the smoke residue on his Zum!)

So, while I do think it'd be fun to have a night or two of ploughing through top forty songs, maybe the novelty would wear off.

Sorry I can't oblige - I have a gig starting July 1st .....

Roger R.

Wow, Roger - not a single bar gig? Well, I have had a few good bar gig experiences...can't really complain...but overall I'd say your angle is right on. I'd do theatre full time if I could.

Good luck with the July gig!

I have a couple of possibilities being discussed offline, but the fellas I'm in contact with aren't likely to be able to cover all 4 shows. Would prefer someone who could do all 4... So -- last call!

Thanks, everyone!
