Soon Id like to try out a rack system with two split 15 inch cabs with 1504s. In this rack system, Id like to try the revelation preamp. I have questions about the poweramplifier.
Do I need a separate poweramp in the rack system or would the revelation be enough for the cabs? and what poweramplifier would you recommend based on a low budget?
I would be using the rack system for the purpose of playing outdoors at small cowboy churches and indoor shows/jams.
I've been playing with my nashville 112 that I enjoy alot, but I'm wanting to try out the stereo tube sound. _________________ Keenan Friday

Yes, you will need a power amp. The Revelation is strictly a preamp. If you are going to use two cabinets and run the system with stereo effects, you will need a stereo power amp. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . For the poweramp, i'd get a stewart world 1.2. Plenty of power and only takes 1 space in a rack! You could fit it along with Rev pre in a 3space rack, (but I would use a 4 space with a 1 space as a breather so the electronics won't get to hot. |

...just about any pro amp that can deliver 200 watts or so into 8 ohms will work, some, like the Stewart mentioned above, can fit into a single rack space, others will require two spaces or more. |

Just in the past few years there's been a revolution of sorts with these class D amplifiers, the old rules about weight/sturdiness/cost/efficiency/reliability are out the window. No one's sure what the new rules are, ( ) but there's gotta be a least half a dozen companies hitting the 300 watt - 300 dollar point. These are of the "disposable" amp type - there's nothing to fix in there - but there also doesn't seem to be much to go wrong in there either, and there are some big names offering solid warranties. God bless the Chinese prison factory system.*

John, I bought one of those Peavey amps to use in my rack. It made all kinds of weird noises. The music store were I bought it said it was interacting with my digital effects. Now my son uses it for his PA.

Just bought one of these Peavey amp for my Television to use with my PA speakers
in my barn "man cave" and this amp is quiet and powerful and light as a feather. Has some nice features also that I probably won't use but very interesting.
My 2 cents...... |

Been using the Art SLA-2 amp for about 5 years now with a Pod XT for FX and preamp., into two 15"BW cabs, sounds good to me. 280 watts per channel @ 4 ohms plenty of power.
