Jack Ward of Bahama, N. C. passed away Sunday morning. He was a great pal for over fifty years. Jack played lap steel, bass and guitar and loved and supported steelers. He was the guy who introduced me (literally) to Jerry Byrd. He was a personal friend of Jerry's and took me along on one of his visits to Jerry's house. He was also the guy who introduced me to Leonard Stadler and Marvin Hudson long before they built their first Marlen.

Jack had had some serious health issues the past few years, and kept bouncing back, but this time it was not to be. He loved entertaining at nursing homes.

Sympathies to his wonderful, sweet wife Nora and their two daughters.

Jack was also a good friend of the Mid Atlantic Steel Guitar Association. When he was able, you would see him in the back of the room or hall, with his bib overalls, his bass guitar in hand, connected to earphones and play almost all day. A good friend and will be really missed at our jam sessions in Kinson, NC. Nora has our sympathy and will pray her through these tough days.

Clyde & Glen,

I am sorry to hear of the loss of your dear friend. From your posts, he sounds like the kind of man who I would have liked had I been given the opportunity to meet him. Prayer will get us through this difficult time for sure. Please let his family and friends know that they are in our prayers for the Lord's comfort, peace, strength, and guidance now and in the days to come.

Bro. David
