I am new to pedal steel and have been learning by just picking songs and learning the steel solos. Like "rainy day woman" or "buckaroo" butI can't seem to get that super smooth tone that I hear on some of the recordings. There is just a touch of bite to the sound I am getting with My Fender By Sho-Bud Student guitar plugged straight into a non-master silver face twin. Any help would be appreciated.

I am using a Dunlop pot pedal. So straight in is not quite right, but no compression, delay, or other effects.

You should have reverb on that amp, are you using it?
