I don't know squat about Soundmax, but I can tell you I am having good luck with Realtek on a Windows 7 PC.
Specifically, I have Realtek ALC 892, but I know of others who are doing fine with Realtek ALC 889.
You have a laptop. As far as I know, you can't install any sort of internal sound card in them--you are stuck with Realtek.
But you could always get an external USB sound card if worse comes to worse. I have a Behringer UFO 202 that works well. About 35 bucks.
But try the Realtek.
Sound card configuration is always tricky, so your first attempts may well fail. You may have to "enable disabled devices", "enable disconnected devices" and generally cuss a bit.
Go to HP support and download the latest Realtek audio driver package for your particular model. It may well be newer than what you have right now. |
