Swedish manufacturer AWH built a steel called the Viking in the early seventies; a well-built entry level 3+1 S10.
The body was laminated birch, covered with curly birch veneer. Economy touches included a changer that would only raise OR lower, not both (so no lower on the high E, bummer); decal "bindings" and cheap & cheerful tuning machines.
Mine sounded OK, but I soon traded it for a new 3+6 from the same manufacturer, Arne W Holmedal.
Here's a pic of one with added levers - mine was blonde, but otherwise identical:
