Some of you may agree that the steel guitar and Stratocaster combine well. I may have posted this before but am not sure I did. This is Cliff Richard's love song, first released in 1961, written by the songwriting team of Sid Tepper and Roy Bennett. Recorded in January of 1961, "When the Girl in Your Arms..." was not released until that October as the first advance single for the Cliff Richard movie vehicle "The Young Ones". The track reached a chart peak of #3 in the UK but became a #1 hit in the Netherlands, Norway and South Africa and a #2 hit in Australia and Ireland, Although Cliff Richard had a deal for US distribution with ABC-Paramount it was not given a US release concurrent with its UK charting, as they felt it prudent to await the American opening of the track's parent movie "The Young Ones".
Connie Francis heard Richard's hit while visiting the UK and sang a cover version in a November 1961 session in New York City entitled "When the.. Boy.. in Your Arms which reached #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January of 1962.

Thank you for that Kay, I'm old enough to remember these tunes the first time around.
I'm very interested in your Steelocaster, I have one of those nearing completion and can't wait to play something on it.
James.

Jim,
Some info on the Steelocaster posted a while back on this forum. Would be interesting to hear the tone on yours when you have made it.
The five positions will give it quite a variety as it did on mine. With three pick-ups, max two selectable, it is also quite "live"! With eight strings, it has double truss rods.

This thread also has some other examples.
