I'm trying to sell my green MSA (The one in my avatar) and I am thinking it might be easier to sell if I removed the wrist lever and extra pedals and put on an extended E9 tuning.
What do you guys think? _________________ Please visit my web site and Soundcloud page and listen to the music posted there.

full disclosure: i have converted my U12 to ex E9. I say leave it all there and if someone is brave enough to move to a 12 string, they can make whatever changes they might want on that guitar pretty easy, no?
Or just say you are willing to change it to suit the needs of the buyer? |

personally, if i decided to get familiar with a 12 string to scale down my weight issues, i would still want the basics (i'm not a great c6 player but use many common aspects) of the 6th sound with the widegrip low toned chords, etc. so far it seems there is too great a learning curve/difference to switch. extended e9 seems it would not have what i was looking for....so i say leave it universal. |

Mike,
That Fessy I bought from you a few years ago has gone thru a few setup changes.
When I got it, it was a C6 4X2. I spent quite some time restoring it back to the original 8X5 E9/B6 Universal. I really enjoyed learning that setup. I have since changed it to a 5X5 E9 Extended tuning for comparison. It was relatively easy to convert. I am planning on reverting it back to the Universal setup when I have time. It just seems to have more to offer and I found it very easy to adapt to.
I think that wrist lever on yours is just an added bonus, so I voted Uni with lever.

I've had a S-12 Universal since 1974, but never learned to play it well, probably because the changes weren't the ones I was used to hearing in steel guitar music back then. Now, with a tuning closer to Ext E9, it's much easier to play. Some of the old changes would probably sound better with today's progresions. |

Well, my 2 cents FWIW, Extended E9th. I just hope you find a good home for it. |

Mike,
I think there are more universal pickers than extended e9th FWIW. Likely whatever you have it set up as the buyer will likely want the opposite.
I would lean towards the universal if I were to buy another. If it were not setup as a universal I would at least want enough pedals and levers to make that setup possible.

I'd say leave it as is. Whoever buys it might appreciate your wrist lever idea. (it is very interesting, although not for everyone)
IMO, the problem with putting the B-Bb on LKV is that you pretty much have to lower your E's with your right knee to get the full benefit from the B6 side of the tuning. (which many of us do) |
