Does anyone know what determines the length measurement of a bullet bar? I have a Dunlop 920 bar which says that it is 2 7/8 in. long on it's package. I measured it, and it's entire length to the tip of the bar is around 3 1/4 in. The entire length of the bar (3 1/4 in.) cannot cover all the strings due to the tapering on the end of the bar. The flat length of bar which lays on the strings is 2 7/8 inches. So is this bar a 3 1/4 inch bar or a 2 7/8 in bar?

That's 3 1/4" bar, as someone mentions Dunlop does things oddly. BTW, the likelihood of you ever needing to play the lowest and highest string together for musical reasons is pretty much non-existent; most all steel players judge the best-fitting bar to be the one that extends the right amount from the front of their hand. You get 12-string players using 10-string bars and vice-versa, depending on finger length.

You want to be able to mute notes at the tip by pulling it towards you while your middle fingertip cuts them off; if you use the search function
- "blocking" and "left" and "hand" - a bunch of info will come up.
