Just as an FYI, for all you dobro/resonator/weissenborn players who play swing:

There are weekly Gypsy jazz jams on Saturday from 4-6pm at the Moon and Sixpence in the Hollywood district in Portland. I can guarantee you that you'd be welcome. There are skill levels present from beginners who comp the chords to advanced players who'll make your jaw drop. We get not only gypsy guitars, but accordians, violins, mandolins, vocalists, bassists, etc.

I can't be the only guy in town who's willing to bungee jump on tunes he doesn't know Mr. Green

Acoustic ONLY, no electricity. Smile

Move it to San Francisco and I'll be right there! Sounds like a fun time.

Actually, the Portland Gypsy Jazz community is based on the one in San Fran, so I'm sure you can find a local jam Smile

I'll bring my 8 string dobro down there one of these weekends. I love playing that music.

Excellent! Let me know ahead of time and I'll make sure we get a good contingent in for ya.

I crossed paths with you briefly at the River City Bluegrasss Festival, I was just showing up and you were just packing up to go see the Time Jumpers Smile

PS
My new gypsy guitar has sorta put the steel on the back burner for a bit so I haven't checked out the forum much lately.
