Hello,

I just started using this unit with my Revelation/split combination and I must say I'm a little freaked out by the results. Prior to this I've been using a digiteck rv-7 and Ibanez Ad-9 with pretty good results, but I wanted to simplify things and use a rack unit.

The Gmaj seems very easy to use which is nice. It's all pretty intuitive as far as shaping the sound. The thing I don't like is what it's done to my tone. Maybe I just don't like digital delay but it seemed to replace the crisp, tube tone I had going with a digital vibe. Ewww! I've tried turning the fx controls up on the preamp and down on the unit and this has help a bit, maybe.

I really despise the high end digital chirpiness that I'm getting. I've been using a digital reverb for a long time in stompbox form, is it normal for a rack fx unit to be more digital sounding?

I think we could use a little more information on how you have it hooked up.

I have a friend who has one and get's great tone out of the unit.

Are you going through the effects bus? If you wire the unit in series you basically have elminated the properties of the Revelation because you are sending it's output signal through the GMajor. Not sure if there is an analog pass through the G Maj or not but that could be the problem.

Hope we can help here.

Regards,

I'm going from fx send of the rev into the gmaj (left side mono) and then back into the rev left side. Then powered speaker from left out of the rev. I have the fx level in the back of rev set to about 8 and then at least 5 in the front. I've been able to get rid of some of the unwanted high end sound by fiddling with it some more, and I s'pose there are things about my analog delay pedal that I don't care for too. I like delay but the only one I really love is my echoplex! Thanks for the help Mark, I'd appreciate some tips from anyone who knows anything about this kind of set-up.

Brett, you need to go from the Rev effects send to the g major, then back to the effects return on the Rev, not to the left side input. Plug instrument (or volume pedal) into the left side input and then go from left side output to power amp. I always used the effects loops on Peavey amps with the G major and had good results.

Brett,

I apologize but I sent you an email and gave you some wrong information. I did not read closley enough how you have your gear hooked up.

Please hook up your rig as Tim points out and then follow my advice from the email I sent you.

I thought that this was how you had your gear wired.

Regards,

Thanks guys. I've had it hooked up correctly the whole time. I think that the digital multi fx unit is just not for me. The rev/split captures the tone of my guitar really well and the fx unit kills a lot of that no matter how I set the levels. I hooked up the echoplex last night and it sounded amazing. I guess there's no substitute for good analog gear.
