I just got my old Blanton guitar back from a person who I loaned it to years ago,A friend of mine was trying to help me refinish and put it back together... while polishing the keyhead on a buffing wheel had the part go flying and the little wall that separates strings 3+4 broke off,I was wondering if someone can fabricate a new part and or weld a new wall...Right now there are small nylon spacers and they don't work that well.I will send the whole keyhead. Thanks for looking,Stu

Stu, is that cast aluminum? You would think that a good machine shop could repair it.Aluminum has a low melting temp, could be difficult. It might be a better idea to find a replacement head and roller bridge. Maybe Jim Palenscar or Bobbe Seymore could help locate parts or offer suggestions. It looks similar to an Emmons head to me. Even if it were a different brand but had the same string spacing might work.

Dana, yes it's cast aluminum,The Blanton guitars are the same width at the nut as they are at the bridge,no taper...there was one for sale about a year ago but the guy who I gave the guitar to didn't want to put any money int it,so it was a missed opportunity I was wondering if it can be welded because chances of finding a replacement these days are about zero. Winking

If it's cast aluminum, your local tig welder can do a build-up with 4043 rod and you can get out the files and file it back down, if you don't have a mill.
