Here is a lap slide is now ready now for sanding and pore filling. I've been working on this one for six monthhs now! This morning I sanded down to 180 grit and will go through the grades this afternoon. My elbow tells me it is time for a break so I have uploaded some pictures for you. The Australian Blackwood has some very slight figure that is now starting to emerge with the sanding. All the other appointments are indian rosewood.

Thanks for your interest
Cheers
Alan

Thats a beauty Alan, that blackwood is going to finish out nice Smile For those that don't know, Aussie blackwood, like koa, is in the acacia family and a very close cousin to koa.

If you played it with a glass bar, would it be called a "Lap Glass" guitar?

Yesterday I sanded back with 400 grit sandpaper. The shellac finish is still green so it needs to dry for a few weeks. I couldn't help myself and glued the bridge on yesterday. This morning I strung it up and I still have a smile Very Happy on my face.

Here are a few pictures and thanks for your interest. A sound file will be along shortly!

Cheers

Alan

Man, that's beautiful. Enjoy it! wow.

Many, many kudos for the wood selection and doing a shellac finish. It's gonna sound super, I'm thinking.

Here's a sample of my old Style 3 Weiss. Farting around in ProTools with my son singing a song written by Malcomb Holcombe. Just for grins.

Thank you to you all for your comments.

Next build is going to be an Archtop using the Benedetto plans, dvds and book as a guide. As this build will take heaps of time I will be starting another acoustic build this year as well. My son would like a Dreadnaught so looks like thats the plan for 2011.

Cheers

Alan
