http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50beeae8lww check this out . Incredible solo from Paul using Gmin/maj7 scale over the G at the beginning with an almost latin feel . Great tricks with the timing as well . A great contrast to what the others are doing .

Hi Richard. It's an inspired solo all right. Did you notice how Brent reacts afterwards? Have you got Brent's album from this track is drawn?

Hi Paul..I don't have the album but I have the track . The solo on the album version is very different although he uses the same scale in the 1st A section . The 1st A section on the y tube clip sounds like something a piano player would do on a Latin tune . On the second A section he plays a swing band quote , thought I'm not sure which . Could be a Bebob tune? it's all major scale .sounds like he's using his 6 th pedal for that and then he does a really difficult lick ascending into the next bit . he's been working hard to be able to put these ideas together and at this speed .

So, how are you getting on with the steel solo Richard? I spent a very long time working out the guitar parts years ago when I got the album. I play it today as an exercise. I never did get around to learning the steel solo.

Paul , I can play it at 200-220bpm with varying success . It's going at 240 so I'm not far away . The solo on the YouTube clip is a little easies to play but I can't hear it all too well to pick out the notes , so I dont have the complete picture of it . I'm having fun with it though . Those blues type solos are great to work on as you can stick the little like in anywhere in either a swing or jazz tune .
