Im looking to spend under a $1000. So far it seems Beard and Scheerhorns are top on the list one can find used even as low as $400 if patient. Then there's republics and recording kings as possibilities. One needs to do a hands on of course. I think I want to shoot above the Regals. I found the Resonator Guitar Review website helpful as a guide so far. Any other suggestions?

The Beard Gold Tone and Wechter-Scheerhorn are very good choices. There are also some custom builders that are in your price range that you might want to check out.

Give Steve a call at Redline and tell him what you are interested in. I've played Steve's guitars and they are very good

I've not played the Appalachian, but folks who have recommend them.

Look around The Resohangout and Reso-Nation for used instruments and other relevant discussion. Good luck!
