while waiting to fix the 4th string lowering problem on my sho-bud pro I, i brought the kline out of retirement and quickly found out why i retired it in the first place.
the raises seem linked in some way and neither can be made to reach their raised pitches correctly and independently.
at the same time, the 4th string lower tuning peg is maxed out--sticking out, literally, like a sore thumb.
i'm going to lube the whole changer while hoping for a response or two, and hope someone out there knows what's going on.
pity the guy who likes to pracrice every day and has two guitars that are unplayable.
maybe i should go up to the attic and bring down my maverick? |

On my Kline the raise adjustment for E to F# is on the top row of endplate tuning screws. The tuning screw for the E to F stop is just below it in the second row.
My E lower screw sticks out quite a bit too. My Kline is very stable. Did you always have this problem with it? Maybe it's missing a parts or something came loose underneath.... _________________ Dave Zirbel-

Brenda, I bought my Kline aboout a year ago and had some of the same issues. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the end plate is the "stop". Some of my changes were maxed out, meaning the set screw was not hitting the end plate yet the note was not hitting pitch. I figured the only way to get more distance was to extend the pedal travel. It's suprising how a little adjustment at the pedal can give you a lot more distance at the changer. I had to do this on 4 of the pedals. It almost seemed like someone adjusted the pedals so that they all stopped at the same height! Anyway... this totally corrected my tuning problems and I'm as happy as a lark with my Kline. Great guitar. Good Luck. |

Right! There are pedal stops under the guitar where the bellcrank hits the stop. Should be a small hex screw. _________________ Dave Zirbel-

My Kline is an amazing guitar. The only time, in 20 years, that I had to adjust anything at the changer end was when I got a mis-marked 3rd string. If you want to play a wonderful guitar, send it to Rick at Hummingbird studios. It will come back to you perfect. I love my ShoBuds, but for a gig? Kline Uni. |

thank you, everyone.
yes, the guitar (amazingly) was in perfect tune after years out in the garage...except, of course, for the 4th string raises.
since i'm a worse mechanic than steel guitar player, i'll probably call the guy mentioned in one of the posts and ask him to work on it.
thanks again. |
