Terry....
Still haven't gotten the first issue. I don't think I can commit to a subscription until I have a look at the first one. Question....if we do subscribe, should we expect the same delivery patterns we are experiencing now?

Tom Bradshaw is an expert on the costs of producing a quality magazine and I for one, would pay extra for quality because of limited buying public.

I'm sorry to say that I'm going to have to slide on this one. After exchange, one magazine would cost me $20CND. I really enjoyed the 1st issue and certainly respect your publishing costs. I hope you get enough subscribers to continue the project.

Joe

I'm sorry to say your statement makes a lot of sense, Joe.

I'm still undecided on spending $20 CDN an issue.

I'd like to restate that many of us encouraged Terry to provide an Electronic Version when this mag was first proposed. If we could print it ourself, your printing and distribution costs would not be a problem.

It also seems that the Post Office is causing you unhappy customers.

Perhaps you should rethink your "Electronic Version" decission. Maybe a combo of both. Print version first to those that can afford it, followed a month later by an "Electronic Back Issue" for the rest.

I,too, wish you the best with this project, Terry.

Sorry Terry, check the currency converter at http://www.oanda.com/convert/classic

A single issue with Pay Pay:
14.75 US Dollar = 21.71495 Canadian Dollar

A single issue without Pay Pay:
13.95 US Dollar = 20.53719 Canadian Dollar
(plus postage to mail payment)

I perfer to buy single issues.

Terry:
If the quoted cost of $63.00 is in U.S. dollars, with the current exchange rate of .68 on the dollar, a 6 issue subscription is $105.84 Can. which equals $17.64 Can. per issue.

A single issue at $13.95 U.S. with the exchange equals $23.44 Can.

The above exchange rate was taken from todays Yahoo Canada financial page.

Perhaps, but the first issue of the magazine was $10.50 US Dollars to Canadian buyers.

The only difference from the 1st Issue Canadian readers already bought... and the proposed price for future Canadian shipments is the 6 Issue commitment.

I am sorry I need to have the commitment to do this guys. The amount is still the same, but you have to commit.

I also believe that this forum provides plenty of resourses with regard to instant online information about steel guitar.

I still like the idea of a well-produced 'hard copy' - something I can keep if like it.

Whether or not Terry's new magazine is something I would like to keep is, so far, unknown to me - I've yet to see it! However good the deal with USPS was for the bulk-mailing, their performance has been lamentable.

I'd certainly be prepared to commit to the $54-option - provided, as I've said, that I enjoy #1 when it gets here....

Terry,

I called you the other night to try to purchase a subscription via telephone. I caught you on a gig. You weren't able to stay on the line but you were able to tell me that you can not do Visa over the phone.

I have not had much luck trying to utilize PayPal.

I am planning on sending you a check for a subscription.

Would I receive issue #1?

I would want to.

Your post alarms me a little bit though. Are you gonna stick it out, or is it concivable that you will fold?

If it just doesn't work out for you and you do have to give it up, would subscribers get a refund or eat it?

I'm inclined to subscribe in spite of it maybe being a risk. We really badly need a steel mag and $54 ain't that big a risk. A decent dinner with the wife costs that much and the mag is probably at least as enjoyable (I didn't say that).

But are you gonna be in there for the long haul?

You really can't judge things this early. But I think the higher price is OK if the mag is good. Don't let the "naysayers" bring you down. Everybody knows this PSG "thing" isn't for those short on cash unfortunately.

I hope that you're gonna stick it out.

Regards,
HH

Mike C.,

ALL ORDERS PLACED AFTER MARCH 13, 2003 (yours was processed March 18, 2003 in the name John C.) have not yet been mailed. The cut-off for the first mailing was March 13, 2003. Yours will likely be mailed tomorrow or Tuesday, when the remaining orders required to make up the "minimum 125 piece" shipment are met. You should expect your magazine to arrive in the next two weeks or so.
