...I couldn't help myself but "Three pick or not three pick?" Just didn't make sense.

Anyway, I imagine this discussion has been carried out before and if anyone has a good thread on it, please send it my way. I was wondering what people's experience has been playing PSG without picks. Thoughts? Tone? Difficulty? Blood?

There have been many discussions about it Mike, includingthis one.

I know a few people that don't use finger picks. My good friend and mentor Boogie Sherrard uses only a straight pick in conventional thumb and index like a guitarist would do. He uses the other 3 fingers bare and plays huge grips in the style of Chalker with this method.

Another acquaintance uses a thumb pick and finger picks on middle and ring fingers.

I've seen people play without any picks at all. All bare fingers.

Some use their nails, some plastic picks, some use finger tone picks whereby the blade is open to flesh except at the tip.

Many ways, all depending on what you wanna do.

I'd have to say that thumb and 2 finger picks are likely the most common, although some use 3 or 4 finger picks.
