you lucky duck. singer/songwriters that are happening and working are a cool ticket. especially when you get to them first so 'you're' creating the licks, not playing someone else's.
good luck and have fun. i think it's going to be a good year for music.

Well good for you Karen! That’s great news.
Work hard to stay ahead of what is expected of you.
Try not to over play and always keep something fresh at the ready.
Then wait for the correct moment to bring it out.
I’m happy for you……. Go get’m

thanks everyone. I had 2 days to learn a bunch of tunes and pulled it off. it helps that I am one of only 3 or 4 steel players in my area but still it feels pretty good. I've been wanting to play in this band since I started playing pedal steel. Now I gotta step up my practicing and quit slacking !!

Hey Karen, if you like PSG in new and different musical contexts, come see the play "The Blue Flower" at he ART in Cambridge. (This week is the final week of a seven week run.)

Pedal steel with bassoon, cello, accordion, piano guitar bass and drums/percussion. Not country music.

Say hi if you come. Best, JW

Hey way to go on the new gig! Although I'm a little surprised there's only 4 steel players in the your area. I've heard that there was a pretty decent country music scene there back in the 70's/80's, and there were some really good steel players around then. I've played a few places down there. My favorite spot so far is a place called Sally O'Brian's in Sommerville. They seemed to have a good built in crowd. I'm scheduled to play there on april 23rd with Joshua Panda. It'd be cool if you could make it, always love talking with other steel guitar players! Hope the new gig goes well for you.

I had my first gig with the band Sunday night. I used my Emmons Mr. Green , my Nashville 112 and a delay pedal. The Emmons is the secret weapon. It sounds soooooo good !!! Jenee is a great singer and songwriter. Her music tho not straight country was made for pedal steel. She has great musicians in her band as well. I am very excited for this venture !!

That's exactly what I use in small clubs. It's a great combination. Cool Good luck with your new band, Karen, and let me know if you ever play out here in western Mass.

Hi Karen , Best of luck with that job !! But I think you'll find there are probably 50 or 60 steel players around this area but not too many are working !!! Why don't you post where you will be playing so maybe we can drop by and wish you well !! Good luck in the future !!! from the old non-pedal , out-of-tune , out-of-work ole geezer , Eddie "C"
