I have recently recieved Dougs Lap steel tab and cd's for C6th. I have done some western swing back up work for a singer here in Aus on my little Moody 65 lap steel in this tuning, but this book WOW has opened up a whole new world of c6th. . Thanks Doug, I have just bought the Pedal steel "big book' and cannot wait for its arrival (although there is years of learning in the lap steel book!)
The simplicity of the arrangments allows for so much embellishment (if desired)and the selection of tunes is brilliant.
Highly recommended to all potential lap players!!

Jeff..I could not agree with you more. I also recently got his C6 25 song book and it has not only helped my lap playing, but my PSG C6 as well.
It opened my eyes to what can be done on lap steel.
Nice tunes too ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) _________________ Bill |

Thanks Jeff, William, George! I appreciate your kind words. I'm glad you like the book/CD. Jeff, thanks for ordering my pedal steel book/CD. I'll ship it to you immediately.
Yes, I'm working on another 25 song book for C6 lap steel now. Unfortunately I lost the entire month of December due to surgery on my picking hand. I'm recovering slowly and starting to pick a little bit now. I hope to have the new book completed sometime in March. Happy New Year! ![Cool](images/smiles/icon_cool.gif) _________________ My Site / My YouTube Channel

Doug...whenever I hear the words "hand surgery" and musician in the same sentence, it sends shivers up my back.
I hope all will be well with you in the New Year and far beyond. _________________ Bill |

Great news Doug... I'm really enjoying your first 25 song book for C6 lap steel. Looking forward to your next one. Just wondering if you might consider including the song "Tara's Theme" in the next book. I'd really enjoy hearing your arrangement on that one.
And good luck with the hand. As others have said, it gets a bit scary, particularly for a musician. Here's wishing you a great New Year. _________________ Sho-Bud: Professional & Fingertip |

Doug is an excellent player and it's always a pleasure to listen to his arrangements. The only thing he needs is a band (out of the box, of course!). ![Laughing](images/smiles/icon_lol.gif) _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

Thanks Mike, yes, I'm big on band-in-a-box. Lately I'm trying to use it mostly for bass and drums, and playing live guitar and uke along with it. BIAB works for me because I do a lot of instructional material. One of these days I'll record some full arrangements with guitar parts, harmonies, real instruments, etc... when I get inspired to do that.
Mitch, thanks for your support. I used a Fender Stringmaster to record the 25 C6 songs. I played on the outer neck... and I removed two of the strings so I wouldn't be tempted to cheat and use 8 strings! Happy New Year ![Cool](images/smiles/icon_cool.gif) _________________ My Site / My YouTube Channel

I have just switched from learning a few of the songs on my little 6 stringer ( took it and Dougs book, on holidays with a little amp) - came back home and sat at the console 8 stringer (as seen on the other thread)and dammed if I felt like I had to learn it all over again!!. String spacing different therby slants being different angles, fret markers different, scale length different- therefore string tension and those bottom 2 strings seem a neicence when grabbing string groups etc etc. I must admit it seems to have improved my overall ability. I suppose all I have done now is publicly outline my own lack of talent ah but what the heck, I LOVE IT!

I recently got both Doug's C6 and E9 books - really great. Very good quality publishing - love the spiral bound - and very clearly tabbed out.
Highly recommend them. |
