Buddy Emmons recorded a Boogie Woogie tune with Little Jimmy Dickens back in 1957 on his Bigsby pedal steel (E9 neck). The tune was called, "Buddy's Boogie" and it is just killer. Years ago I had a tape of this given to me by Ken Parker, but I never knew what it was until I asked here about 10 years ago.

About 2 years ago I did my own recording of it which was pretty cool, but I've since done a complete adaptation of it for non-pedal steel. I've gotten a lot of mileage out of the boogie woogie patterns that Buddy played and still use things like it all the time.

Check out this clip of Buddy, it is amazing:
Buddy's Boogie

If you're interested in playing something like this, I've just created a video/tab/notation package of it for E9 tuning (adapted for non-pedal) and it's available here:

Yes, that Bigsby does sound amazing. I'm very drawn to that sound which is one of the reasons I love Clinesmiths.

William, yes I did, thank you. Sent your book out this morning.

George, there is a C# on the rare occasion that he uses that pedal in this tune. Almost all of it (about 90%) is played without pedals.

Bill, I would be able to make a CD-Rom for anyone who is interested in any of my material--that is not a problem. The only thing I would need is a note letting me know this and including your address.

The CD-Rom would just include all of the files for your computer and wouldn't be playable in a DVD player.
