The online description of these is very minimal. Modified to meet RRs specs, but theyh dont say how or what is differnt about em. Does anyone own one? Are they very different from your standard shubb or steven bar? if so how?

The Shubb steel index page has the skinny on the differences:

Longer and heavier than the standard Shubb bars. I was fiddling around with an SP1 bar, but generally found it too light for pedal steel, to my tastes anyway. The RR might fix that problem, but I wish they made one longer and with a semi-bullet.

I find these dobro-style bars good if I want to pick up the bar off the strings and attack from the above the strings a lot, as one might tend to do playing 'slide' style. Generally I'm finding my 3-1/2" long 15/16" diameter black Zirconia bar works pretty well for that and covers every other base in addition, but I'll probably have to try the heavier RR bar - they are not expensive.

Thanks Dave, I see now, much heavier and longer.
I 've been using a stevens bar here and there for the reasons you mentioned, mainly soloing. But its too short and too light for regular playing so this sounds like the ticket. im gonna get one.

I had one for a while. It is a very long & heavy bar, not for everyone. When I used it for a while, I felt like I had to wear my steel-toed boots.

FWIW, I usually have two different bars when I play.
I use a Shubb SP-1 for the up tempo rock songs, and lately I've been using my 7/8" zirc bar for everything else.

The RR bar looks interesting.
Please let us know how you like it. I'm interested.

bought it for myself and put it under the tree. unwrapped it xmas morning, sat down and could instantly play like RR Whoa!

well okay maybe that was the four bloody marys I had while unwrapping my gifts i dunno...

I got the heavier one and well, its kind heavy. who woulda thought that? i like the xtra weight and length but this is a bit too much weight i think.
I bet the other one is perfect. They are reasonably priced, i will probably get one and find out.
