When I open WMP to play a song in the library or play a wav file from my desktop it starts off with static or smometimes plays half way decent and then plays erratic. Could it be I have a corrupt file in WMP? I have reloaded WMP 10 several times and still plays that way. I can go to NCH and download the wav and it will usually play after I restart it the second time ok. I use the desktop wav files a lot when making a cd of my songs and really need some help. Got any ideas? Thanks for your input and time with this.

It may be that one of your computer's background processes is interfering. Close un-needed programs and terminate unnecessary background processes while recording. This frees up both RAM and CPU cycles.

Some programs that are very aggressive are anti-virus programs with heuristic detection modules. Maybe your security app is taking too close a look at the wave files and WMP? Try temporarily disabling active monitoring when you first open WMP. If that cures the problem, your security app may need to be told to not look at .wav files, or WMP (potentially dangerous exclusions).
