I was lucky enough in 2005 just almost exactly 5 years ago to the day to get to spend a WHOLE day with Charlie. I was auditioning for playing lead for him I met him in his hometown of Manchester Tennesee at shoneys we spent over an hour talking His wife said She was going shopping so Charlie stood up and said,"Me and Billy Boy are going to the House", i had to move my Strat and Nashville 400 to the back of my extended cab Chevy,Charlie got in and Lit a cigarette:),Of course I'm a non smoker but never said anything,We both had horrible colds and later that day tried singing Louvin songs both of us sounded bad..(really bad:).I was at his home from about 2;30 pm until nearly midnight Charlie LOVES to talk,I was tired so I went to my Room(Motel),before I left there were about 15 CD's Charlie had put on my Amp,I started to move them to a table he said "What are you doing?",Uhh putting back your CD's,"I GAVE those to you", ARE you sure?,YES!,I cherish those CD's,I got a call next moring Charlie invited me to breakfast, I went back home got a call later Charlie needed FLU shots,He knew that My wife is a Nurse,to make a long story short Charlie and wife got Shots We got to go BACK STAGE at The Grand Old OPRY!,I will never forget that week EVER, We pray for Charlie a Great Man! |
