I just found this version of King of broken hearts by Leanne Womack I would almost BET that this on is Paul franklin keep playing after She is thru singinging there is a killer fiddle break in it at the VERY end of course George Strit is my favorite and no body can beat Buddy Emmons He is the King of Steels far as I'm concerned in a world of many many great players, 2 players who had steels with their names on them both of them great

Who ever this fine steel player might be.......

it's one of the lousiest mixes I've EVER HEARD!

It sounds like they stashed him in tile walled empty restroom for this recording. I'm surprised that Mr. Straight would permit this to ever leave the mixing studio.

The copy I got from I-Tunes has the right mix. I sometimes practise by trying to duplicate the steel ride. The smoothness of it is the tough part.

The toughest part in trying to copy Buddy is always the smoothness, every thing else he does is also hard going on to the impossible to follow but his seamless coordination of limbs is astounding.
Someone suggested in another post that evolution has provided him with eyes in his feet!
Maybe we could use that suggestion as a comfort for our lack of determination and practice. Very Happy

Originally I put on the George Strait version of this ,then I found this one by Le Anne womac which usually I don't listen to because I don't care for Pop Music but this girl did this song Justice, And I think your right Buddy is on George S, Paul is on this one, GREAT either one!!. don't get much better than them 2 gents:)

How about some recognition for the songwriter Jim Lauderdale... What a great song. IMHO, Jim is the best of those who've carried the traditional country songwriting torch in the last 25 years. I had the pleasure of playing with him a few times way back in the 80's I remember Jim saying that he was totally floored when he heard Buddy play the melody solo on the George Strait version. I remember being floored by that solo as well. I absolutely love what Paul does but I really miss Buddy's unique soulful style.

I Love both of these versions of this song and it IS a really GREAT SONG TC!!, George does it flawlessly but I was really surprised to hear what I consider a Pop Singer doing such a great job on it and making it sound Country, something tells me a LOT of these singers are MADE to sound Pop Rock. Buddy did nail this but Paul did a really nice Job as well 2 of the best....Paul and Buddy...

Just had a listen to both Lee Ann Womack's and George Strait's version. Womack's mix is great! Strait's version is very spacious, I would hazard a guess and say only one side of the stereo mix is present.
