has there been a zumsteel picture thread? i can't remember. i bought my '82 d10 new from bruce after just seeing his little square ad in steel guitarist magazine. then i drove to the townhouse in emeryville, ca to see one in person. joe goldmark had his set up there and it looked and sounded great! i knew one other guy who had an earlier model also.

i remember that franklins were pricey at the time and i couldn't get a satisfactory response at emmons so i took a chance on the zum. i have been totally pleased at my decision ever since.

show me your zum if you love it! i'm not looking for pics from all you salesmen who just have lots of steels going through your hands to make money.

Chris, great pics for the Zum-thread. But under-the-skirt pics should be mandatory

I'm the 6th proud owner of this great guitar that was originally built for the great Rick Price. It's the 3rd Hybrid that Bruce built, so it's a very early one. It's "zumwhat" unusual, in that it has the older 2 5/8" pedal spacing, rather than the newer 2 1/2" and it has Kluson style tuning keys as well as a tone circuit. Those variations from the norm were requested by Rick when he ordered the guitar to be built. I also understand the the maple cabinet was made from a 100 year old log!

Here is a photo of Rick Price playing this guitar while backing Darrell McCall. Rick and Dickey Overby are both featured on a Darrell McCall CD titled "Old Memories and Wine" with Rick playing this ZumSteel!

Here are two photos taken by the person I bought the guitar from. It now has Emmons single coil pickups, which I prefer.

Here are a few photos of the under carriage.

Here is a a photo of Bud Harger (2nd owner) playing this guitar. He bought the guitar from Rick (to play while he waited for an identical one to be built) afterwhich he sold it.

this thread presents the 'classy' look of zumsteels.
something tells me that these guys aren't a bunch of beginners.

thanx for the pics...let's see more.

does anyone have any early zums...from the developmental era?

Hey Adair, How do you like your new Zum? Give us a little write-up on how you like the tone and mechanics compared to the other guitars you have played.

Hi Bent....
We'll have to wait until Christmas day when it arrives.
I'm very anxious, waiting 30 long days.
