I think the Buddy Emmons phase shifter era is my favorite. I would have loved to bring in the new year watching these guys pick....... |

Both Buddy and Danny routinely leave me speechless, and these clips are as good a demonstration of why as I've seen. Just great, and it's nice to hear such good audio quality - lots of clips with Danny are bad board tapes. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to have them all, but it makes these that much more satisfying.
I have never heard anybody get such a great phaser tone like Buddy gets, and is so amply demonstrated here. In general, phase is not one of my favorite effects - I generally prefer a Leslie - but this is a great sound and the contrast with Danny's Leslie tone is really interesting.
The first time I saw Danny in a DC bar, I'm sure the clank from my jaw hitting the floor was audible. The remarkable thing is that this is still possible decades later. |
