Have a Peavy Bandit 112 just bought but can't get the steel to quit with a little twang on the 8,7,6 strings.. Using a GFI steel..

So any ideas to help out, like maybe some suggestions for setting up the amp.

Hi David, are you using enough bar pressure? The twang you talk about must be the string vibrating against the bar due to not enough bar down on the strings. I used to have that problem when I first started. I had a Peavey 112 a long time ago when I first dtarted playing electric guitar. They are good little amps. Try low at 2-3 oclock, mid at 930-10 oclock, and high 1 oclock, thats approxiamtely where I kept my settings on my amp before I got a steel amp and it got the job done for me. Hope that helps David.

Thanks for the reply Quentin, I have plenty of pressure on the bar. And I put on a new set of strings thinking that may be the reason, everything was sounding great then started to get the fuzz sound on just some of the strings... But I'll try you amp set up and see if that helps. I am in the process of purchasing another steel also, because a friend has a Rains and I really like the way it sounds...

Thanks again

David

Hey David, is it possible the pickup is overdriving the input to the amp? I've got a GFI Ultra and that GFI II pickup is pretty hot. If I recall, the Bandit 112 has a low gain input. You might try plugging in there and see if you hear a difference.
