I just wanted to let everyone know that I am and have been a Sierra dealer for quite a few years. I have been selling the great Sierra lap steels since they were first introduced back in the nineties and for my taste, is without a doubt the finest I have ever played. Don Chritensen and Tom Baker who designed this model spent a lot of time and research and it really paid off. There is a lot more to a lap steel than just a piece of wood and a pickup so to speak. The Sierra is laminated with two pieces of wood and a sheet of metal in between and it also has the strings going all the way through the body as the pre-war Rickenbacker steels did. Anyhow, all of this contributed to the great tone and unbelievable sustain this guitar has. It also comes standard with a George L pickup. The original version didn't have legs but the newer ones come with 3 legs. Also, this guitar is a masterpiece in appearance and very classy looking. The case is also excellent and is made by SKB and is lined with foam and cut out to fit perfectly around the body of the guitar, so it cannot move around. This model is an 8 string and sells for $1595.00. They have been $1495.00 for quite a few years and just had a small increase to cover the increase cost of materials. These are still built personally by Tom Baker who was involved with the original design. I just received a new one which is already sold and going out to the customer tomorrow. If you would like to order one, please let me know. I just wanted to pass this on as many of my customers were not aware that I was still selling these great guitars.
