For Sale: Original Lawrence 705 double rail pickup with the chrome housing in real good shape. It is a Wide Mount. Someone has scratch marked the back plate with a 605, but I checked the Ohms and it registers at 20k. If it was a 605, it would only measure 15k. So I am assuming it is a 705, and not a 605 because 705's measure between 18-21k. The 505 thru 805 original Lawrence pickups were identical except for the ohms. So they all look identical. It has a 5-3/4" lead wire. Bolt hole pattern is 2-3/8" Bolt Hole Center to Center on Length and 1-1/2" Bolt Hole Center to Center on Width. Is a drop in replacement for most wide mounts. For sure a drop in on George L E-66's.
The following is a notation on the Steel Guitar Forum that I found from the late great John Fabian on Lawrence Pickups and how to find out which one you have: The first sentence is in regards to the new style Lawrence pickups with the black housings that are being manufactured now. Mine is an original Lawrence w/ the chrome housing. So here is John's quote:
"These are pickups were made by a California company run by his EX-partner not by Bill Lawrence who made the silver housed pickups.
Our experience with the reliability of these pickups has not been any where near as good as the silver housed ones.
To find out what model pickup you have, measure the DC Resistance and compare it to the numbers below.
705 - approximately 18K-21K Ohms, 15H inductance
805 - approximately 26K Ohms, 21H inductance
605 - approximately 15K Ohms, 11H inductance
505 - approximately 12K Ohms, 7.5H inductance
