I am looking for the C6 tab for the original version. A lot of it I have figured out on my own but the solo is confounding me because I am new to C6.

Does anyone have tab for this? (6 string lap)

I checked the tab section but save a scrap or two from Doug B, I found nothing...

Hi J.
The best and most original version is on a book,"Your Cheatin Heart' It has Hank's steel player, Don Helms playing 10 of Hank's most popular songs, including "Your Cheatin" Heart". Don plays the song pretty much the same as he did on the recording. There is tabliture of the songs to go along with the recording. You can get the book and CD from Mel Bay, Scotty's Music in St Louis, or from b0b here on the forum.
The problem you will have is that the songs are tabbed foe E6 tuning, which is four frets higher than C6 on open tuning. In order to play "Y.C.H." in the proper key of C, you will have to move up four frets with a C6 tuning. You will have to play the opening lick starting at the 20th fret instead of the 16th as shown on the tab.
I bought the book a couple of years ago and learned all of the songs pretty quick. They are all fairly easy with no bar slants. I later restrung my Remingtom Steelmaster to C6 and played them in a higher position to keep them in the original key. It worked just OK. The sound was not quite the "high and lonesome" sond that Don Helms was so famous for creating to back up Hank.
I am now back to playing with the E6 tuning. It is a great tuning for vintage country, Gospel, some Hawaiian, and Western Swing.
