I recently got an Emmons SKH and it came with George L's installed. I'm just curious. Is there a quick way to identify whether they're E66s or some other model? Or do I have to pull the pickup out and look at its underside, assuming that there is a model number on the underside?

Thanks.

I have never seen any number on the bottom side of any George-L.

Of the ones I have owned:
the 10-1's had no markings
the 10-5's had no markings, but they have two sets of wires coming out the back
the E-66 and PF-1 were marked on the top face

If they have no marking on top, and only one set of wires coming out, they are probably 10-1's
I believe that ALL the other models are marked on top.

It could be an e-on pick-up. Check the ohms with a multimeter. If it reads 17.5 or around that, it's an e-on. If it reads 19.5 it would be a 10-1. I think the e-on's might have e-on engraved on the bottom of the pick-up also.

Could be a SS-10 as well. The 10-1 and the SS-10 look the same and read the same on a meter. Only way to tell is the back of the SS-10 has it stenciled on the back.

I didn't mention that the pickups have "George Lawrence" in script on the tops. So, did they make only models?

Two different animals. Should have "George L's" on them. Lawrence is Bill Lawrence pickups and I they have no writing on them.

Every George-L I've ever seen says "George-L" and not George Lawrence

Oops. You're right. They say George L.
