Does the steel guitar community recognize a steel guitarist for outstanding achievement on an annual basis? (Steel Guitarist of the Year)

If not, I recommend we start such a program. What I'm talking about is, who made the greatest impact on the steel guitar world during a calendar year. We could also have regional and state annual awards as well all announced at say, the St.Louis convention, or another venue.

Please let me know what you think.

Thanks in advance,

Wayne Baker

A number of the regional shows do this, but I don't see any reason why the online Forum community couldn't offer such an award each year, and I'm sure Scotty would be happy to have Uncle b0b, or his designee, come present it onstage.

Jerry.
I would agree with that, considering what bOb has done, and is still doing, for the benefit of the steel guitar community.

Great idea!!!

Why not create some sort of a voting system for all registered members? I think we would have lots of votes!

I think that b0b would certainly deserve a recognition award for all the work he is doing for us all!

Kind Regards, Walter

Kansas Steel Guitar Association presented Doyle Huff with the KSGA Hall of Fame award last October. None other than Jerry Roller was presented with the Pioneer award. I agree and think that a steel player of the year award should be given to a deserving player. With over 4,000 members, the Steel Forum is a good place to start voting.
